Three killed in Texas after accident with delivery truck
Texas traffic laws that govern drivers were designed to help protect individuals from harm. People who decide to ignore traffic laws and take thoughtless risks can cause major accidents. Reckless driving in Texas and throughout the U.S. is a frequent cause of car accidents and a serious traffic offense.
Texas officials reported that one man and two children have died after an early morning truck and car accident. Truck accidents have the potential to be much more dangerous than car accidents, due to the large weight and size of most trucks.
According to police, a 1997 GMC four-door SUV was traveling on a highway when a FedEx delivery truck did not yield to a flashing red light at an intersection. The delivery truck hit the SUV on its side, the police said. A side impact is commonly known as a T-bone car accident. This happens when a car is hit by another car on the side, similar to the appearance of a “T”. Because of the place of impact during a side impact crash, the driver and passengers riding in the car are at great danger. While a seat belt most definitely lessens injuries in a car accident by keeping your body stationary it does not help avoid the major injuries associated with side impact crashes.
All three children involved in the crash were thrown from the SUV, as it rolled over multiple times. Police said the investigation determined that no one in the SUV was wearing a seatbelt.
The 29-year-old male driver of the SUV and a 4-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy were killed. The FedEx driver who experienced minor injuries and a 2-year-old girl from the SUV were transported to a local hospital.
These kinds of cases can almost always benefit from the assistance of a knowledgeable attorney who has the experience and expertise to advise an individual on compensation for injuries.
