Texas multi-vehicle accident injures 4

Accidents in Texas involving large trucks can have devastating consequences. Because 18-wheelers weigh much more than an average-sized car, the impact can be much more serious than an accident involving vehicles similar in size. Small vehicles are no match against the size and weight of commercial vehicles in a collision, especially involving multiple motor vehicles.

Texas police reported that seven vehicles were involved in a collision on a highway on March 9. Officials said that four people were injured, one seriously. The person that was seriously injured was hit by an 18-wheeler. Commercial vehicle accidents involving cars are all too common on highways in Texas and around the local area.

The accident happened when the 18-wheeler drove off the highway, over a concrete wall and slid down a concrete hill. Police said that the truck driver may have been trying to get around the accident that happened in front of him.

Eleven people were involved in the crash. Four people were taken to a local hospital. Police who were investigating the crash did not comment on the cause of the crash that started the whole pileup. Traffic lanes were closed for several hours while officials and emergency personnel assisted the injured people, had the vehicles involved in the crash removed from the roadway and cleared the debris scattered on the highway.

The severe and perhaps permanent injuries that arise from auto accidents with trucks, tractor-trailers and 18-wheelers can result in significant losses to the people involved and their families. However, the law provides injured individuals with the right to recover damages from the responsible party.
