Heights crash sends one to hospital

A woman driving a Nissan Maxima was hospitalized after a pickup truck ran into her in Harker Heights near Killeen, Texas on July 31, 2013. The driver of the pickup truck failed to yield the right-of-way at an intersection while traveling west on East Central Texas Expressway. According to Nolanville Police Chief, Gary Kent, the truck collided with the Maxima, which was driving east on Edwards Drive. The woman driving the Nissan Maxima was injured, but her injuries were not life-threatening.

Police from Harker Heights and Nolanville responded. The injured driver was transferred to Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights.

Sometimes collisions happen because of distracted driving. Serious injuries can occur when drivers are distracted, or when drivers don’t follow the rules of the road. Texting while driving, and using a cell phone while driving can be very dangerous because it takes the driver’s attention away from the road. Sometimes drivers simply don’t pay enough attention to what they’re doing, or ignore traffic rules because they’re in a hurry.
