Q: What values have you applied to your practice and how do they provide a benefit to your clients?
A: The values that I apply to my practice come from my parents and from my rural upbringing. I grew up on a farm within the area of several small towns where everybody knew each other. When disaster struck (sickness, fire, tornadoes, etc.) the people in the community would trust each other to rally around those that suffered the loss and would work to help them get back on their feet knowing that one day it could be their own family in need of help. The same concept applies to my practice as I understand that my clients and their families have suffered a loss and are placing their trust in me to do my part, to look out for their best interests, and to be fair with them. I tend to be plain spoken and try to be as candid as possible hoping that in doing so my clients will be able to trust me to give them the best legal advice possible and to put in the hours it will take to reach the most favorable outcome for them.
Grant Gerleman grew up in the rural town of Ridgeway Iowa where he worked alongside his father on his family’s cattle farm. In high school he balanced his time studying for class, working on the farm, playing two sports (football and track), and working a second job at a local grocery store. He then attended the University of Iowa and became the first person in his family to graduate from college when he received his business degree in marketing. After graduation, he decided to become a lawyer instead of testing the job market at the height of the recession and chose to attend law school at the University of Arkansas. In law school Mr. Gerleman regularly appeared on the Dean’s List for academic achievement and continued his involvement with sports by serving as the Secretary of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. Following law school he moved to Dallas and began practicing law with a mass volume litigation firm where he quickly distinguished himself in his ability to argue and win challenging cases to a jury. It was there that he found his passion in helping injury victims and where he began to understand both the responsibility and reward that came with his clients placing their trust and confidence into him. Within just a few years he became the lead trial attorney at his former firm and has tried over 80 jury trials to a verdict for Plaintiffs with a great degree of success. Mr. Gerleman is among the winningest civil trial attorneys in the State of Texas for the years of 2014, 2015, and 2016, and his verdicts have been featured in both state and national verdict publications. He has recovered millions of dollars in settlements and jury verdicts for his clients, and has continued to maintain a reputation in the legal community for his ethics, integrity, and humility. He has been a panelist at CLE events involving trial advocacy and currently serves as a mentor to several other young Dallas lawyers. Mr. Gerleman’s practice includes injuries and fatalities that result from car wrecks, truck wrecks, workplace accidents, and from incidents that occur on the property of businesses and individuals. Since joining the Turley Law Firm, Mr. Gerleman has also expanded his practice to include injuries resulting from defective products and from medical malpractice.
